Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award

RGKR or the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna is India’s highest tribute which is given in sports for triumph in the field. In Hindi the words "Khel Ratna" literally mean "Sports Gem" in Hindi. Named after the former P.M or Prime Minister of the country Rajiv Gandhi the award carries a substantial cash amount, a scroll of tribute and a medal. The cash amount was Rs. 500,000/- from the years 2004 to 2005 or 11,500 USD. Rs.500,000-Rs.750,000 is the amount which is the increased amount .

The award was instituted in 1991-92 supplying the requirement of highest national tribute in sports. Predating to RGKR the Arjuna awards is always given to the stupendous sportspersons in each and every sporting discipline yearly. Khel Ratna is offered to the overarching honor, presented for exceptional sporting performance. a team or an individual, irrespective of each and every sporting disciplines yearly.
